Nutrition for Weight Loss

Losing weight can be hard. As we age, our bodies start to change and we can no longer keep our slim figures without effort. Naturally, our metabolisms slow down, and we lose lean muscle mass. Weight gain can be scary, and a lot of people struggle to lose weight and get back into shape.

One of the best ways to start your journey to better health and weight loss is by watching what you eat. A healthy diet is not only important for maintaining a healthy weight, or getting back into shape, but for overall health and wellness, too - reducing the risk of a number of medical issues.

You have to change your lifestyle, not just your diet. Yo-yo dieting and nutritional starvation is not the answer. Adding live food into your diet is the first step. These foods include berries and other fruit, raw vegetables, nuts, seeds, eggs, and lean proteins like poultry or fish. Eating "live" food like those listed above can help lower cholesterol, and provide plenty of vitamins and nutrients. You should try to eliminate anything processed, high in sugar or high fructose corn syrup, and corn and wheat products.

A few good rules to remember while changing your diet and lifestyle are to eat the same healthy and well-balanced meals often, don't drink your calories, have a cheat day once a week (but don't get too crazy,) and avoid white carbohydrates like bread, rice and pasta. Finally, always make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Adding in regular exercise and supplementation can also help with weight loss.
